Chiropractic
and Breast Cancer
Dr. Tejada, a breast cancer survivor, she intimately knows the challenges and side effects that come with breast cancer treatment. Having experienced a bilateral mastectomy, undergone chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormonal therapy herself, she knows the pain, slow recovery process and common side effects of surgery and treatment firsthand. With her background in neuromusculoskeletal health, she successfully regained her strength and range of motion through home exercises and stretches. Now, she is dedicated to guiding other breast cancer patients on their journey to recovery after surgery and treatment.
Below is some ways chiropractic can help breast cancer patients and survivors:

How Chiropractic Helps Breast Cancer Patients:
-
Pain & Stiffness Relief: Treatments can alleviate musculoskeletal pain from surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, as well as stiffness that limits movement.
-
Improved Mobility: Adjustments help restore range of motion and function, especially after surgery.
-
Reduces Treatment Side Effects: Can help with headaches, nausea, and neuropathy (nerve pain) from chemo.
-
Stress & Anxiety Reduction: Promotes relaxation, which is crucial during draining treatments.
-
Supports Lymphatic Drainage: Some therapies can help with lymphatic issues
-
Better Posture: Can address postural issues from increased breast size or surgery, reducing strain on the spine.
Important Considerations:
-
Not a Cure: Chiropractic care is supportive; it doesn't treat the cancer itself but serves as a complementary therapy to manage treatment side effects
-
Consult Your Doctor: Always get approval from your primary oncologist as certain conditions, like osteoporosis or metastatic disease, need special consideration.
-
Specialized Care: Please always Inform your chiropractor about your cancer history (surgery, treatments, bone involvement, metastasis) so they can tailor treatments safely
In essence, chiropractic care offers drug-free relief and comfort, complementing conventional cancer treatments by addressing the physical and emotional toll they take.
